The applicable statute of limitations for every any particular case requires the analysis and advice of an attorney. A word of warning: The statute of limitations is not a soft deadline. Yes, you should report every crash you're involved in. Calling 911 is the best way to start that process immediately. Law enforcement that responds to the scene of the crash will put together a Traffic Collision Report, which includes summaries of how the parties and witnesses state the crash occurred while it is freshest in their minds. This can be important later on if the parties involved disagree on how the crash occurred. Many car crash injuries can go undetected and may not begin to bother you until days or even weeks after the crash. While a crash may seem minor at the time because the visible damage to the vehicles is not significant, serious bodily injuries can occur without substantial visible property damage.
